According to official directives issued by the Uttar Pradesh Industrial Development Authority (UPIDA), concessionaires operating under the Public-Private Partnership model will be duly compensated by the government for the toll exemption period. The decision has been implemented in line with the Commercial Operation Date framework, ensuring seamless execution of the policy.
The Ganga Expressway, developed under the Public-Private Partnership model, carries a concession period of 27 years, during which the concessionaires will retain the right to collect toll revenue. The temporary toll exemption has been introduced as a special public outreach initiative to allow citizens to experience the newly developed infrastructure without financial burden.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier inaugurated the Ganga Expressway, a six-lane highway stretching 594 kilometers. The expressway connects Meerut to Prayagraj and is expected to significantly reduce travel time, enabling commuters to complete the journey in approximately six hours.
Officials have emphasized that the initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to enhancing public accessibility to major infrastructure projects while maintaining contractual obligations under the concession framework.
The toll-free period is expected to draw significant public interest, positioning the expressway as a landmark development in Uttar Pradesh’s transport infrastructure network and reinforcing the government’s focus on large-scale connectivity and mobility transformation.
